What Didn’t We Do for Climate Week NYC?! [[link removed]]
Dear Friend,
Thank you to everyone who followed and supported our actions for Climate Week NYC! We wanted to share a brief recap of the many events and collaborations.
Exploring a Revolutionary Food System [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
Our panel “Building a Climate-Friendly Food System” [[link removed]] was a great way to kick off the week. Farming Campaign Manager Annette Manusevich discussed the devastation to wild animals and their habitats to fuel the expansion of factory farming and how reducing meat products on plates and menus is critical to protecting animals and our planet. Annette was joined by Patrick Jammet from mushroom-based protein company Meati and Craig Willingham from the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute who spoke on their solutions for building a better food system that doesn’t rely on factory farms. A huge thank you to our local NYC supporters who joined us in person! If you couldn’t make it, you can watch a recording of the panel here [[link removed]] .
Feeding Hearts and Saving the Planet [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
Our event “Give a Cluck about Climate” [[link removed]] provided delicious cruelty-free bao bun sandwiches to New Yorkers around Washington Square Park featuring Meati’s Crisply Cutlet. Our team was on the ground inviting the public to take part in our quiz and check out resources to learn more about how factory farming damages our planet and causes immense animal suffering (and take away some great swag!). We were joined by the team at PLNT Burger who also gave away coupons to their restaurants and other swag. Watch our [[link removed]] event recap video here. [[link removed]]

Cracking the Case of Climate Culprits [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
We launched our true crime-inspired campaign inviting people to investigate the question of who is killing wild animals in the forests and other diverse habitats of Brazil. Posters around NYC drew the attention of passersby, who were asked if they were ready to learn the truth. Fake crime scenes were installed around four neighborhoods during climate week to draw even more urgent concern for wild animals such as sloths, jaguars, anteaters, and monkeys. The big reveal? Factory farming companies like JBS are responsible for the deaths of wild animals and the destruction of their homes!
Standing Against JBS on Wall Street [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
Speaking of JBS–we joined our allies at Friends of the Earth US, Rainforest Action Network, and Global Witness outside of the New York Stock Exchange for a press conference calling on the financial sector to oppose the company’s latest attempt to be publicly traded in the US. Allowing JBS on the NYSE opens its universe of potential investors, but the risks to animals, people, and the planet are simply too high. Investments shouldn’t support the expansion of animal production; they should direct resources to animal-free and climate-friendly foods!
Climate Week may be over, but our work to end factory farming marches on! Help us continue to build creative tactics that expose the truth about factory farming and catalyze more innovative solutions. [[link removed]]
