Friends: Enough.

Over the weekend, we watched a series of tragedies unfold as two separate gunmen opened fire — first in El Paso, Texas and then in Dayton, Ohio.

I mourn for the families and communities who are suffering right now at the hands of senseless gun violence and the intolerance and hatred that so often fuels it.

But mourning isn’t near enough. We need to do more than just offer our condolences: we must act.

Join the call for the Senate to vote on the gun violence prevention legislation that Mitch McConnell is currently holding hostage→

Here in Colorado, we are leading the fight to reduce gun violence. We have passed universal background checks, banned large-capacity magazines, and just this past year passed Extreme Risk Protection Orders that allow law enforcement to remove guns from those who may endanger themselves or others.

It’s time for the rest of the country to follow our lead in passing gun safety legislation. At the federal level, I am a cosponsor of the Extreme Risk Protection Order bill which establishes a grant program to implement extreme risk protection order laws. And in February, the House passed two separate bills to expand federal background checks and close the loophole that led to the Charleston church shooting.

But, five months later, Mitch McConnell refuses to bring this legislation to a vote.

That’s why I need you to sign on and demand that McConnell hold a vote on common sense gun violence prevention measures in the wake of El Paso and Dayton.

Thank you for taking action today,

Ed
