Friend,
When I was growing up as the only Brown girl in my kindergarten class, I didn't see many elected officials who looked like me.
Over and over, I was told that I didn't belong in certain spaces. I still remember being kicked out of my favorite coffee shop in College because I was holding hands with my girlfriend.
Rather than allowing discrimination to keep me stuck, I took these experiences and I used them as fuel. I dedicated my life to the fight for civil rights for all people. And I'm running for Congress to continue that fight.

The queer, undocumented, first-generation American girl that you see in these photos grew up to make history. She became the first woman of color elected to the West Hollywood City Council, and the first openly-LGBTQ+ Iranian elected official in the world.
Representation matters, friend. I'm fighting for a nation in which everyone can feel that they belong. Will you join me?
