Angus King for U.S. Senate Campaign

John,

If you’ve been following the news, you know how busy things are in Washington right now. I’m doing all I can to bring folks across the aisle together to avoid a shutdown next week.

There is something I’ve been less on top of, though — our campaign fundraising. The fact is I really, truly hate writing to ask for money, especially when there are so many important challenges facing our country.

Unfortunately, in a post-Citizens United era, it’s something I have to do. Today, I’m asking because I have a pretty big fundraising deadline on Saturday, and our team has an ambitious goal we are aiming for.

Could you pitch in a few bucks today to help keep me in the Senate fighting on behalf of Maine people? Your gift would make a huge impact before this deadline.

In our current landscape of extreme partisanship, I’m more committed than ever to getting my colleagues in the Senate to work together on real solutions to benefit people in Maine and across the country.

But being an independent comes with challenges — I can’t count on big-party support, and I’m vulnerable to attacks from outside groups who know my vote can’t be bought.

That’s why I send emails like this. I’m lucky enough to have a strong grassroots team that makes it possible for me to go toe-to-toe with outside interests, and I’m hoping I can count on you to help me keep fighting for all Maine people.

If you can spare $5 or any amount today, will you pitch in to help us meet our goal by Saturday?

I’m deeply grateful for everything you do to support my campaign. Without you, none of this would be possible.

Thanks, John,

Angus
