Hi,
Many working families and children in America are facing food insecurity,
yet Republican extremists in Congress are trying to cut the very benefits
people in need use to buy groceries.
In fact, House Republicans want to slash nutritional assistance benefits
like SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) in the next funding
bill. The GOP is going as far as trying to cut off access to fruits and
vegetables for people using SNAP.^1

in the 2023 Farm bill and protect Americans from MAGA Republicans’ extreme
proposals.

Republicans are threatening a government shutdown to get their way, and if
they do, we will see deep cuts in food benefits that would hurt millions
of Americans who rely on this assistance on a daily basis. Families rely
on SNAP benefits to stave off hunger. SNAP prevents kids across America
from going hungry. These benefits are critical for child development,
nutritional health for the whole family, and so much more.
Congress has the opportunity to counter extreme right-wing efforts by
strengthening the SNAP provisions in the 2023 Farm Bill. Expanded benefits
would improve SNAP access for older adults, veterans, and working
families, ensure adequate support to match higher grocery prices, fund and
improve state employment programs, and so much more.
Now, in the House, the GOP is targeting SNAP. The SNAP has been part of
the Farm Bill for 5 years and is set to expire at the end of this month.
It's a program that lifts millions out of poverty, boosts the local
economy, and ensures that vulnerable people across the country have access
to food.^2 House Republicans are adamant about stripping people,
especially children, of nutritional assistance.
We cannot let Republicans get their way in the Farm Bill and watch
millions of people go hungry.
