I’m proud to be part of the movement that doesn’t accept corporate PAC money. This is a pledge that I take very seriously -- and getting money out of politics is a huge focus of my work in D.C.

But I get it – reading the same thing over and over, it can be tempting to just tune out.

My hope, John, is that if I explain a bit more in depth about why I don’t accept contributions from corporate PACs, you’ll step up and donate to our people-powered campaign. Because, in order for a campaign like ours to win, we need grassroots supporters like you.

So, before I get to my favorite part (the actual policy), I have to ask: can you step up and contribute to my campaign today before our end of the month fundraising deadline tonight?

Now, for a bit of background on why this pledge against corporate PAC money is so important. It’s simple: The involvement of special interests and dark money opens the door for corruption in our government.

If we stop the influx of corporate and special interest money, solving every other issue we care so deeply about gets easier. Our fight for working families, expanded health care, and the environment runs counter to corporate interests and dark money groups that pour money into our opponents’ campaigns -- that’s no coincidence.

So, by chipping in to our people-powered campaign, you’re joining a movement that says our government should be run in the interest of the people, not the corporations that can cut big checks. Can you join us?
