Dear John,

Happy fall! In thinking about what to share in this month’s newsletter, I was reflecting on the lessons we can learn from this season. Colder days and earlier sunsets may not immediately inspire, but fall is also a time of profound transformation. It’s a reminder that the process of transformation isn’t always pretty or easy, but in my experience, the beauty that comes on the other side is always worth it.

This September, we've been busier than ever at the Ms. Foundation. President & CEO Teresa C. Younger has been traveling the world representing the foundation, and our Director of Innovative Grantmaking and Research Shawnda Chapman spoke at the Feminist Funded conference in D.C. and at our recent event with Ms. Magazine about the future of feminism.

As we look forward towards the fall, we’re gearing up for so much. We’re headed to Wisconsin next month for the 2023 Women’s Convention as a proud sponsor, we’re adding more members to our team, and we’re opening up new opportunities for funding.

My hope for you this season is to find joy in the transformative process.

In solidarity,

Ruth McFarlane
Chief Advancement Officer

Event Recap: Ms. Speaks Out

In honor of our respective 50th anniversaries, last week we co-hosted an event at the Center for Brooklyn History with Ms. Magazine on the future of feminism. Ms. Foundation Director of Innovative Grantmaking and Research Shawnda Chapman joined journalist Irin Carmon and Joanne Smith, executive director and founder of grantee partner Girls for Gender Equity. Jennifer Weiss-Wolf, who leads partnerships and strategy at Ms. magazine and serves as executive director of NYU Law’s Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center, moderated.

If you missed the conversation, you can watch a recording of it on YouTube!
