September 30th is a very important fundraising deadline for our campaign. It is a more important deadline for our country. If lawmakers don't pass a spending bill before midnight this Saturday, the government will shut down.

Earlier this year, MAGA Republicans, led by my opponent, Freedom Caucus Chair Scott Perry, nearly caused a government shutdown by holding our country hostage to push draconian spending cuts that would have hurt real Americans including seniors and veterans. Although we averted that shutdown, the result was a short term spending plan that expires at midnight on September 30th.
Wha t happens then? Here is a look at what the MAGA Republican shutdown would do to agencies we rely on:
A shutdown could tip the economy into a recession: Economists fear that a shutdown could push our economy, which has already been battered by recession and interest rate hikes, into a recession that will hurt all of us.
Those who risk their health and safety to keep us safe would have to work without pay: Members of the military and federal law enforcement would continue going to work, but may not be paid until a spending bill is passed.
Seniors becoming eligible for Social Security may not be able to receive benefits: Social Security Agency services like benefit verification could be severely affected, and new applicants could temporarily be turned away.
Families and children relying on food assistance could go hungry: The USDA is authorized to send out SNAP benefits for 30 days. After that, benefits can become dicey.
Airport delays and cancelled flights: Air traffic controllers and Transportation Security Administration agents would have to work without pay. Training would be halted for roughly 2,600 new air traffic controllers that will be desperately needed as we head into the holiday travel season.
