The Polaris Post

Dear John,

The fall season is upon us, and we are excited to share about the progress of the Polaris Resilience Fund — and our gratitude for your partnership in getting it off the ground!

Keep reading for more to celebrate, from new Spanish-language resources to recent state policy wins. We also hope you'll forward The Polaris Post to others who share your values.

Together, we'll create a world where everyone is free to choose how and where they live and work.

Thank You for Supporting Survivors

We are so grateful to all of you who made gifts over the last two months. With your financial partnership, the Polaris Resilience Fund will be sending its first payments out to 24 survivors in October!

Besides receiving payments, this inaugural cohort will help finalize the program's design through surveys and interviews. Because of this additional role, the cohort was nominated by the Resilience Fund's Advisory Council organizations

For future cohorts, we will be opening a public application process, so please keep an eye on our website and social media for news soon!

Help Us Get the Word Out — In Spanish

We've launched a new Facebook page to expand outreach to migrant workers from Latin America.

Named for our communication tool, Nonechka, it provides information about rights and resources in Spanish and highlights collaboration with Spanish-speaking partners.

Sharing resources in other languages is critical to combating other forms of trafficking, too. In New Orleans, for example, we saw a need for housing to help prevent sex trafficking — yet the local housing application form was only avaliable in English, making it harder to get housing for those speaking English as a second language. At our recommendation, the Housing Authority of New Orleans added a Spanish application to its website.

Join us in advocating for language accessibility, and check out more Spanish resources on our Nonechka page!

Keep Pushing for Policy Change

It takes a lot of time and collective work to change systems that enable trafficking and keep survivors from reclaiming their freedom. But we have seen several recent wins at the state level — and we want you to know how you can keep the momentum going!

Check out our latest post on the DC Domestic Workers' Bill of Rights and efforts to end the forced labor of incarcerated people in Nevada and California. And look for new updates on our blog this fall.

Celebrate Success with Us

If you haven't gotten a chance yet, take a look at our most recent annual report

Among other highlights, it celebrates the 15-year anniversary of the U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline, the completion of the groundbreaking National Survivor Study, the innovative approach of the Financial Intelligence Unit, and continued progress toward preventing sex and labor trafficking across the country and even across borders.

And thank you for your partnership, which makes all of this progress possible.
