Dear Friend,
Americans expect leaders to work together to solve the problems people like you care about. As a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus, I stand ready to work together to prevent a federal government shutdown, but Republicans who control the House only care about scoring political points.
Unfortunately, Republicans won’t even engage with House Democrats to find a solution and avoid a devastating government shutdown that will happen in just THREE DAYS and would interrupt essential government services, damage our economy, and put our national security at risk.
Instead of working across the aisle, Speaker Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans are reneging on bipartisan agreements to jam through their extreme agenda, including cuts to Social Security, nutrition assistance, K-12 education, and law enforcement.
As House Republicans threaten to shut down our government, I will continue to fight to increase investments in health care, childcare, education, and veterans benefits, and oppose Republican attempts to cut critical funding. Working families in South Jersey and across the country deserve better than these political games, and I stand ready to work across the aisle to get the job done. |
