Meridian Community Roundtable at the 186th Air Refueling Wing
I was proud to work with the 186th Air Refueling Wing in Meridian to host a roundtable with community leaders to discuss the importance of the KC-46 aircraft and a new mission at Key Field. It was great hearing from leaders in our community who are working hard to secure this mission. I was honored to be joined by leaders representing business, healthcare, public safety, economic development, education, military, and other areas of the Meridian and Lauderdale County community for this important discussion. Additionally, Meridian Mayor Jimmie Smith, President of the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors Jonathan Wells, and State Senators Tyler McCaughn and Jeff Tate and Representatives Billy Adam Calvert and Troy Smith attended, as did several staffers for Members of our Mississippi Congressional Delegation. Monday’s event highlighted that our federal, state, and local partners are all working together to support the 186th in this effort. Meridian pioneered air refueling, and I will continue fighting to help continue that legacy for our great state. Read more here.
Financial Crisis at the Southern Border
The Committee on Homeland Security (CHS) is continuing to provide oversight of the Biden Administration’s failure to secure our southwest border. As Vice Chairman of the Committee, I’m thankful for the opportunity to be on the front lines of seeking to solve our border crisis. We must continue to fight for a secure border. Last week, I participated in a CHS hearing about the financial impact of President Biden’s disastrous border policies. Watch more here.
Welcoming Our Fall Interns
This fall we have three new interns starting with us both in the Brandon office and our D.C. office. Over the next few weeks, we will introduce you to each of them. This week we are excited to introduce Jay Choi, our Harper Congressional Intern. Jay is a junior in the Mason LIFE Program at George Mason University. Established by the former Representative of Mississippi’s Third Congressional District, Congressman Gregg Harper, the Gregg and Livingston Harper Congressional Internship Program gives students with intellectual and developmental disabilities an opportunity to gain congressional work experience. We are thankful to continue MS-03’s record of leadership in Congress and Congressman Harper’s and his son Livingston’s work. Interested in interning with us? Apply here.
