The Right's Dangerous and Unreliable Alternative to ERIC ([link removed])

By Devon Hesano

Here are some recent updates.
* The Ohio Redistricting Commission — which consists of five Republicans and two Democrats — unanimously adopted ([link removed]) new legislative maps late last night. The maps secure GOP supermajorities in both the state Senate and House.
* The Wisconsin Supreme Court rejected ([link removed]) a lawsuit seeking to block Republican lawmakers from impeaching Justice Janet Protasiewicz.
* In the Alabama congressional redistricting case, a federal court scheduled ([link removed]) a hearing on Oct. 3 to review the special master's report and any objections to the proposed congressional districts. Following the hearing, the court will determine which congressional map Alabama will use for 2024.
* A state trial began ([link removed]) today in a lawsuit brought by the Republican Party of New Mexico challenging New Mexico’s congressional map. The state GOP argues that the map is gerrymandered to unfairly benefit Democrats and violates the state constitution.

Here’s what’s coming up.
* The second Republican primary debate takes place tonight on Fox News at 9 p.m. EDT. Although we are not expecting voting to be a major topic, we will live tweet ([link removed]) if any noteworthy comments are made about voting rights and democracy.
