John, I have a few thoughts about tonight's GOP presidential debate.

But first, I need to ask: Can you chip in $10 or any amount to our campaign before the end-of-quarter FEC deadline? It will send a powerful message to Nancy Mace and the MAGA Republicans if their extremist rhetoric leads to a FLOOD of grassroots donations! [[link removed]]

Tonight is the second Republican presidential debate. We don't need a crystal ball to know what each of these far-right candidates will say. This rings especially true for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Time and time again, he has boasted his new laws censoring library books, and banning classrooms from discussing "divisive topics" – which include the experiences of Black Americans. This isn't all that different from my opponent, Nancy Mace, who said she would support banning books that seek to "indoctrinate" students.

While MAGA extremists like DeSantis brag about erasing my family's history, and the history of millions of Black Americans, not a single Republican stands up to them.

I served as the first President and CEO of the International African American Museum in Charleston, and I've spent years telling the story of my great-great-grandfather, Civil War hero and U.S. Representative Robert Smalls.

I know that most of us, regardless of age, race, or background, believe that book-banning, muzzling teachers, and erasing history are WRONG.

It would send a POWERFUL message to DeSantis, Mace, and the wannabe authoritarians if their disgusting rhetoric led to a flood of grassroots donations to our campaign to flip South Carolina's 1st District.

So please, before our crucial end-of-quarter deadline, chip in $10 or $25 to win this race, take back the House, and kick MAGA extremist Nancy Mace out of office → [[link removed]]
