Team, I was outraged -- though not surprised -- when the Trump administration released its budget proposal earlier this month.
Budget plans offer a valuable picture of one's priorities. And it's clear that Trump's priorities would be devastating for seniors, working families, and children here in NY-24.
Among the items in this budget? $500 billion in Medicare cuts, $1 trillion in Medicaid and CHIP cuts, tens of billions in cuts to Social Security disability insurance, and $15 billion in SNAP cuts.
This budget punishes those who need public programs and directly attacks retirement security. I am running for Congress because people need representatives who will stand up against these cruel policies -- something we cannot trust John Katko to do.

John Katko endorsed Trump, breaking his 2016 promise never to do so, and he's enabled Trump's and the Far Right's assault on public safety net programs. He voted for the tax scam that gave billionaires and corporations a handout and increased the deficit. Now, Republicans use the deficit as a front to cut programs that help working families.
This has long been the GOP playbook, and it's clear that Congressman Katko won't deviate from it. So it's time for a new voice.
