When it comes to elections, there are no off years. The presidential election might be a year away, but there are still plenty of reasons to hit the ballot box in 2023—including protecting fundamental freedoms in Virginia. 

This November, Virginia voters will determine control of the state legislature, along with the future of voting rights and abortion care across the Commonwealth. We’re going to need every single eligible Virginian making sure their vote is counted and their voice is heard.

What happens in Virginia this fall will impact every single one of us. Democracy and fundamental freedoms are on the line. Support Virginia by writing letters to unlikely voters and urge them to cast their ballot this fall.

ADOPT VOTERS

Currently, Democrats have a razor-thin majority in the Virginia State Senate, with Republicans controlling the House of Delegates and the Governor’s mansion. Earlier this year, Democrats successfully blocked legislation to ban abortion in Virginia by one vote. 

If MAGA Republicans break this Democratic firewall and take total control of the state government in November, it could have dire consequences for Virginians’ fundamental freedoms. 

Say goodbye to the Virginia Voting Rights Act, abortion protections, public education funding, and gun control laws, and say hello to huge tax breaks for the wealthiest individuals and corporations.

This isn’t the future any of us want, but there’s still time to change it. 

Virginians can protect their fundamental freedoms and act as a check on MAGA Republicans’ extreme agenda by casting their vote for progressive candidates in the 2023 election—and you can help. Write letters to unlikely Virginia voters and urge them to cast their ballot on or before November 7th.
