participation in the CalFresh nutrition program among low-income Asian
Americans.

Telehealth for Behavioral Health

In their article in the September issue of Health Affairs, Jessica Sousa
and her team of coauthors examine behavioral health patients'
experiences with selecting telehealth versus in-person care
.

After conducting a mixed-methods study including a representative survey
and semistructured interviews, they find that about one-third of
patients reported that their clinicians did not offer both modalities
(both telehealth and in person), and a similar percentage reported that
they "did not typically receive their preferred modality."

Ultimately, these results indicate that a significant share of
respondents felt that their preferences were not adequately considered
by their clinician.

The authors note that patients should be made aware of the modalities of
care available to them at the time of scheduling, and clinicians should
have ongoing discussions with their patients about their care
preferences.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we're highlighting influential Hispanic
and Latino voices and organizations who have made an impact on health
equity and policy.

Founded in 1973, the National Alliance for Hispanic Health (NAHH)
originally focused on enacting change
among mental health services. Their services now integrate physical and
mental health.

Today, the NAHH's community-based members provide services to more than
15 million people of Hispanic descent each year.

Their programs focus on research, healthy lifestyles, physical activity,
diabetes prevention, cancer, and vaccination services.
