Team,
We’ve already written to you about why we need your help ahead of Saturday’s public fundraising deadline – our last one before voters head to the polls to cast ballots on reproductive rights in Ohio.
But right after that, we’re up against another deadline: The voter registration deadline here in Ohio.
Ohio has one of the most restrictive voter registration laws in the country: no new voters can register in the 30 days before an election – which is exactly when a lot of folks are paying the most attention.
Not only that, but the Republican Secretary of State has made it his mission to remove millions of voters from the active voter rolls, an outsized proportion of whom are young voters and voters of color who are more likely to vote Democratic. It’s yet another tactic the GOP uses to try to maintain power when they’re worried they can’t win on the popularity of their policies alone.
So what do we do? We fight back. We’re not just getting ready in the last weeks leading up to any election – we’ve been working up to this moment for months now, organizing to register new voters, ensuring voters know and where to vote (and their rights while doing so!), and utilizing every tool at our disposal in the process.
But all that takes year-round work, which is culminating in the coming weeks – and as we get closer and closer to this deadline, it’s our last chance to make sure anyone who needs to register ahead of November 7th’s election has the chance.
Which is why we’re asking for your help: Will you pitch in $5 or whatever you can right now to help register new voters, protect reproductive rights, and elect Democrats up and down the ballot?
Thanks,
Ohio Democrats
A reproductive rights initiative is on the Ohio ballot this November. Can Ohio Democrats count on you to chip in $5, $10, or whatever you can to help fuel our fight to protect reproductive rights in our state constitution? →
