This season of Prophetic Resistance, we’re exploring what multi-faith solidarity means and how to face the growing threat of white Christian nationalism in this country.

That’s why I’m so thrilled to welcome Amanda Tyler on today’s podcast. Amanda is the executive director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, which defends religious liberty and the free exercise of religion. She was named “Baptist of the Year” by EthicsDaily.com in 2019 for her work leading the Christians Against Christian Nationalism initiative.

One of the central tensions in the rise of white Christian nationalism is that those most impacted by the ideology are not white Christians. But those who bear the greatest responsibility in dismantling white Christian nationalism are white Christians. And so, how can we balance the needs of those most impacted with the outreach necessary to those who need to do the work?

Unsurprisingly, Amanda has a lot of ideas about how to make this critical work effective, persuasive, and liberating. Her deep experience provides a roadmap that we can all use to confront this growing problem.
