John –

As Democratic activists, we were extremely concerned to see the news last Friday of Senator Bob Menendez’s second indictment for corruption. Allegedly, Menendez traded favors and peddled influence in exchange for gold bars, cash, and a new Mercedes Benz for his wife. This is not a story that Democrats need to be dealing with while the former Republican President is going to trial on corruption and fraud charges of his own, and we firmly believe Menendez needs to step down from the Senate as swiftly as possible.

Prominent Democrats from John Fetterman to NJ Governor Phil Murphy to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Menendez’s own colleague Cory Booker have also called on Menendez to step down, but he has remained defiant, saying: “It is not lost on me how quickly some are rushing to judge [me] and push [me] out of [my] seat.”

Thankfully, we have a path forward even if Menendez refuses to step down: Rep. Andy Kim stepped up over the weekend and announced he would run to primary Menendez in his 2024 U.S. Senate re-election campaign, giving New Jersey voters and concerned Democrats around the country a credible alternative. Will you pitch in a donation split between Andy Kim’s Senate campaign and Blue Amp Action to help Andy’s team launch with as much momentum as possible before their End Of Quarter deadline?

If the name Andy Kim doesn’t mean much to you, perhaps you remember this viral picture of him on his hands and knees sweeping up the debris left in his workplace after the January 6th attacks on the U.S. Capitol:

In his time in the House of Representatives, Andy Kim has shown us he is a selfless, fair, and kind public servant. We can’t think of a stronger contrast to Menendez allegedly googling “How much is one kilo of gold worth” as he considered whether or not to accept a bribe from a foreign businessman, while acting as the head of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

If we can help Andy Kim’s Senate Campaign launch with a huge fundraising number on their End of Quarter deadline FEC report, maybe Menendez will see the writing on the wall and step down. We sure hope so. Please split a donation between Andy Kim’s Senate Campaign and Blue Amp Action to help us keep the pressure on Bob Menendez to resign and give NJ voters a credible alternative to represent them in the Senate →

About BlueAmp Action:

We cannot sugarcoat the current situation. Right-wing authoritarianism, defeated by a worldwide coalition during WWII, was only in hibernation. Over the past decade it has infected democratic societies--including ours. It is as simple as it is terrifying: What we do now will define the future of our country and world.

We at Blue Amp Action are dedicated to liberal, open societies, where reason and science are applied to solve our problems; where civil rights--including voting rights!--are protected for all. We fight for these values every day. Speaking up on our platforms, raising the voices and the political prospects of liberal pols and pundits.

So we ask that you support our work, so we can continue to engage in this fight every moment of every day. So our kids grow up in democracy, not dystopia.

Thank you for your support for all we do! Please follow Cliff Schecter on Twitter @cliffschecter, or subscribe to The Takedown with Cliff Schecter on YouTube, to keep up to date with this battle for the heart and soul of our country.
