The Virginia House GOP just released a new ad campaign to spread misinformation and fear to Virginia’s voters.
According to NBC News, the VA House GOP is putting six figures behind a new ad campaign in which they claim that Virginia House Democrats have fought to make “late-term abortions the rule, not the exception:”
Here are the facts:
According to the Pew Research Center, in 2020, 6% of abortions were performed between 14 and 20 weeks of pregnancy, and 1% were performed at 21 weeks or more of gestation.
The notion that late-term abortions are happening all the time is false. Late-term abortions are never an easy decision and usually occur due to a life-threatening emergency. By peddling their anti-abortion agenda, Republicans are threatening the lives of people who need access to this life-saving care. It is unacceptable.
Governor Youngkin recently said, "I support a bill to protect life at 15 weeks. That’s what we’re going to work for.” But Republicans aren’t going to stop there – they have made it abundantly clear that they will fight for a TOTAL ABORTION BAN.
