U.S. Judges have ethics rules, but did you know that US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) Justices are the ONLY judges NOT obligated to follow them? The United States Supreme Court wields unparalleled power in shaping the laws and principles that govern our nation. These nine justices have the final say on everything from our climate future to whether or not a person on death row can challenge their case and thus live to see another day. Their decisions have far-reaching implications. Yet, astonishingly, there is no binding code of ethics governing their conduct. This is unacceptable.

Elected officials are planning to cut funds for crucial programs aimed at reducing pollution and mitigating the mounting costs of the climate crisis. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which earmarks nearly $370 billion for climate initiatives, is facing significant budget cuts in the Fiscal 2024 House Appropriations bills. Every cut to the IRA puts our collective future at risk —something we cannot afford to let happen.
