Friend, If your inbox is anything like mine, it's probably overflowing with urgent fundraising requests from candidates who are up against their quarterly FEC deadlines. I can sympathize with how overwhelming this can be. It's time for campaign finance reform to ensure that candidates can focus on how they intend to serve constituents instead of chasing money. Money and politics have never mixed well, and it's important that we prioritize people over power. That's why I'm running for Congres - to put the needs of the people first. I'm proud to say that our grassroots campaign rejects corporate PACs, dark money, and has no ultra-wealthy mega-donors. The average contribution is $30, and we're currently about 75% of the way toward our goal of 2,500 unique donors. We have until Friday to hit that target before our books reset. Some political pundits use these quarterly reports to determine the strength of our campaign. Whether you can contribute $5, $10, or $30, every little bit counts in our fight for working-class values. If you've already donated, thank you! Consider this a quick campaign update to keep you in the loop. v/r -Dr. Bob
Freedom Caucus's red herring argument about government spending doesn't hold water.
A government shutdown is a loss for us all. Our deficit was caused by tax cuts for the ultrawealthy, not investments in healthcare, education, or the environment.

Friend, The cuts being considered that may lead to a government shutdown only make up 2% of the overall spending. It is concerning Rep. Jack Bergman supports the actions of the Freedom Caucus, which harm Americans in need of support. Leadership in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula needs to change. Proposed cuts: Housing subsidies for low-income people and veterans by 33% Home heating assistance for low-income families by 70% Funding for public schools that serve high concentrations of students in poverty by 80% Head Start Meals on Wheels SNAP Food Assistance Poverty rates have not decreased, but the lack of livable wages remains a significant issue. These cuts are being made to address the national debt, but they only account for 2% of the current budget. There are more viable solutions for addressing this issue than cutting vital programs. We must find another way to address the national debt that doesn't harm those who need assistance the most. Our veterans and military did not fight to protect a country that turns its back on those in need.
Friend, I need your help defeating Bergman, so our district can have a Congressman dedicated to real solutions and serious consideration for a balanced budget that doesn't leave anyone behind. Thank you. -Bob Bob Lorinser Candidate for US Congress Northern Michigan & the Upper Peninsula Democrat, MI01
