Fellow Conservative,
The House and Senate are working independently, on separate plans to fund the government. The Senate has just released their proposal and will be voting on it in the next 48 hours — and it’s a really bad deal for the American people.
Heritage Action has released a “Key Vote” <[link removed]> to oppose this Senate deal, and we encourage you to call your Senators — tell them to <[link removed]>VOTE NO. <[link removed]>
Here’s what is wrong with the Senate’s spending deal:
- Keeps spending at higher levels – it continues the spending trajectory of the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill passed this past December.
- Does nothing to rein in the Biden administration – it makes no attempt to block President Biden’s illegal attempts to use every lever of power in the federal government to promote abortion, including taxpayer-funded abortions.
- Resources for woke and weaponized federal agencies – the higher spending levels have fueled federal agencies that have attacked the Biden administration’s political opponents, jeopardizing the freedoms of all Americans.
- Fails to secure the border – any short-term funding extension should include policy changes to secure the border and prevent the Biden administration from continuing its open-border agenda.
- Spends $6 billion MORE in Ukraine funding. In a striking admission of the Senate’s priorities to fund a foreign war over securing our own communities, the package includes more than $6 billion in new Ukraine funding, without addressing any of conservatives' basic accountability requirements <[link removed]> for additional aid.
Not only does this fail the American people in the here and now, it sets up the next spending deadline in 50 days (November 15th) — right before Thanksgiving. Historically, this has meant that Members of Congress are forced to vote on a very bad spending deal right before the holidays.
Here’s what Congress should be doing with a spending deal:
- Congress must cut spending – it’s essential to remove all the bloat that was added during the “covid emergency.”
- Congress must rein in federal agencies weaponized by the Biden administration. Currently, Constitutional freedoms are being eroded by a lawless administration and all Americans are at risk.
- Congress must secure the border. It is a crisis so bad, that even the corporate media and some Democrat politicians are talking about it.
Congress should be using their “power of the purse” to fix the Washington bureaucracy, not enable it.
Tell your Senator to oppose Chuck Schumer’s continuing resolution to fund the Biden administration. Find your Senators’ phone numbers here, and call them today! <[link removed]>
