John—
Suicide is the untold story of gun violence in America.
Roughly three in five gun deaths in the US are self-inflicted, meaning an average of 67 people die by gun suicide every day. These deaths affect every community, impacting friends, families, neighbors, and colleagues. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and now more than ever we must remember that these tragedies are preventable.
Please donate to Giffords Law Center today to help fuel our efforts to end our country’s gun suicide crisis.

Firearms are by far the most lethal method people commonly use to attempt suicide. In order to save lives, we must address our widespread access to guns and enact proven gun safety policies like these:
- Waiting periods, which help prevent impulsive suicidal gun purchases.
- Extreme risk protection orders, which empower family members to have guns temporarily removed when they see warning signs.
- Safe storage laws, which help prevent children and teens from gaining unsupervised access to guns.
America’s suicide problem is a gun problem, and it’s widespread throughout our communities. That’s why our attorneys are fighting every day for the solutions proven to combat this crisis. If we can enact commonsense laws like these, we will save lives.
With gratitude,
Lindsay
