Christian Pilgrim, determined to follow the straight path to the Gate, is interrupted by two friends, Pliable and Obstinate, who try to deter him from his journey. Obstinate, frustrated by Christian’s faithfulness to his quest, storms back to the City of Destruction, while Pliable, eager for the promise of a better life, remains with Christian. The journey together seems to go well until they fall into a most surprising spot—the Swamp of Despondency! How will they escape? Is there anyone to help them? And will they continue on their journey, when faced with such despair?
