Hi, it’s Anna Kaplan, the Democratic candidate running for Congress against George Santos.

This weekend, Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) was indicted on serious bribery and corruption charges. After reviewing the indictment, and considering the details carefully, I decided to call on him to resign.

Here’s why : Senator Menendez deserves the presumption of innocence. But being presumed innocent doesn’t mean you get to keep your Senate seat. The charges against him are highly credible and extremely serious -- including secretly aiding a foreign government.

Hours after I called on Menendez to resign, my opponent, George Santos, said Menendez should remain in office. That’s unfortunate, yet unsurprising
