| Government funding expires soon, and without a continuing resolution or funding package passed by September 30, the federal government will shut down. While the Senate has been hard at work on bipartisan bills to complete this essential congressional duty, House Republicans have done the opposite. Under Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s leadership, the most radical Republican House members are in charge. They’re holding government funding hostage in exchange for making devastating cuts to programs that protect our health, environment, and ability to help those impacted by natural disasters. | At a time where millions across the country are directly experiencing the worst impacts of climate change and long-standing pollution, we cannot afford to underfund the government. We need Democrats to stand firm and fight for the strongest funding bills possible so that federal agencies can continue implementing the Inflation Reduction Act, protecting our air and water, and helping those impacted by natural disasters. |
| We need House Republicans to halt their extremist antics and work with House Democrats to avert a government shutdown that would paralyze government operations and leave millions of federal workers without pay. A government shutdown would close national parks, halt federal agency work on IRA implementation, disproportionately impact the health and well-being of Indigenous communities, and undermine the development and enforcement of environmental and public health protections. |
