MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow announced a new book on the air: Prequel: An American Fight Against Fascism.

With democracy on the ballot in 2024, Maddow told her audience: "This is the [book] I am most proud of, at least I feel I’ve been most compelled to write."

Donald Trump is pledging to pardon insurrectionists and install a Cabinet that will be his personal army -- not serving the public. It would move America toward fascism. As Maddow writes, "Our current American struggle along these lines... has a prequel."

"I said I would never do this again, but I did," Maddow said about writing books in her announcement on MSNBC. "I said after each of them I’d never write another one, and now I have.”

In Prequel, Maddow explores the years-long sophisticated and well-funded plot to overthrow the U.S. government and bring in authoritarian rule, with the support of some of the country’s most influential elected officials.
