When I first ran for office, I did something that many thought was impossible – I flipped a seat that no one believed could be flipped. But that didn't stop me. I then took on the author of the infamous bathroom bill, fighting for the rights of trans-youth and standing up for what's right.
As a legislator, I've worked hard to make a difference. I've passed bills to ensure that life-saving drugs for Texans aren't held up by unnecessary obstacles like prior-authorization requirements. I've fought to protect victims of sexual assault, and I authored the Texas Medicaid expansion bill that would provide affordable healthcare to 1.5 million Texans.
Since announcing my campaign for Congress, we've gained incredible momentum. I'm proud to have secured the endorsement of several local and national PACs, including LGBTQ+ organizations like Equality PAC and the Human Rights Campaign. We've also earned support from local teacher and healthcare unions, Texas legislators, and members of Congress – more support than any other Democrat in this race.
