All Hail Geri Halliwell-Horner!

We’ve got something really fun for you today: our nostalgia issue, dedicated to all the great trends of our childhoods. And we got the perfect cover star, too: Gerri Hallowell-Horner, who you first met as Ginger Spice, the cheeky, redheaded member of the quintet in the iconic Union Jack dress.

Nowadays, though, she’s a mom of three and has just published a YA book, Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen. And as she told our writer, Nolan Feeney: “I would love to make it cool to be a geek, because I’ve suddenly realized I’m such a geek.” And yes, many people have remarked on the ways that her image has evolved over the years. Feeney writes: “Documenting the ways Halliwell-Horner has seemingly moved beyond the brash, forward nature of Ginger Spice as the world first knew her is practically a national pastime among the British press. Halliwell-Horner understands the fascination. ‘Do we really like change? No,’ she says. ‘It’s disconcerting if you see Father Christmas and suddenly he’s worked out and he’s stopped eating so many sausages. You feel like, What’s going on? I liked you like that. Stop it.’”

And I just can’t even tell you how much I love the photo shoot that goes with the story. Check it out.

‘Josie And The Pussycats’ Is The Lost Millennial Classic

“I was 10 when Josie and the Pussycats came out,” writes Taylor Siering. “It was a critical flop, but I loved it immediately. And when discussing pop culture nostalgia with my peers, I am always surprised to hear that many either haven't seen, or haven't really considered, this movie for the — dare I say — millennial masterpiece that it is.” And she makes a pretty good argument!
