Last June, when the conservative majority on the Supreme Court ruled that the federal judiciary will not place limits on partisan gerrymandering, we were disappointed, but we were ready. From the beginning of this fight for fair maps, we were never going to rely solely on the Supreme Court to get it right -- but that decision made our state-by-state work even more important.

This month -- thanks to past support from folks like you -- we made investments in three of our target states: North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas. These are some of the most gerrymandered states in the country and have 65 U.S. House seats between them, so it's crucial we do everything we can to give Democrats who support fair maps a seat at the redistricting table. In a year with so much at stake, this early investment will help candidates running for the state legislature prepare for what will be tough races.

These elections are our last chance to defeat map manipulators before the redistricting process starts in 2021. If we're going to stop Republicans from gerrymandering their way into control of the House and state legislatures for another decade, we need to win in all of our target states.
