Friend,
Maryland students are back in school, excited for the possibilities of a
new school year. PTOs are meeting once again, bleachers are filling up
with proud parents, school picture dates dot our calendars…
…at the same time, extremism is making its way into our public
schools with terrifying speed.
Did you know that there are at least ten chapters of Moms for Liberty in
Maryland already?^1 From [ [link removed] ]rallies against gender inclusivity policies in
Montgomery and Frederick Counties to [ [link removed] ]radical book bans in Carroll
County, these bad actors are working hard to hijack and then dismantle our
public education system.
Our students should have the freedom to learn in supportive environments,
but Maryland’s students – especially those from marginalized backgrounds –
as well as teachers and librarians are being forced into increasingly
hostile, dangerous, and regressive environments. These hate groups seek to
eliminate fact-based education that speaks to all life experiences. And we
know their censorship and erasure won’t stop at school libraries!
Enough is enough. We need to join those who are fighting for the freedom
to read and learn across the state. Here’s how you can pitch in:
1. [ [link removed] ]Write a letter to your local librarians, thanking them for sticking
up for our kids’ freedom to read and letting them know you stand with
them. We’ll deliver your message to your county and public school
librarians!
2. Participate in the Greater Than Hate ‘Parents Week of Action’! Learn
how to join parents across the country [ [link removed] ]here.
Are there extremists attacking public schools in your community? We want
to help! Contact us [

Thank you for being with us in the fight for our kids.

1. The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks extremists, calls Moms
for Liberty an “anti-government” group that “propagates conspiracy
theories,” promotes “anti-inclusion and hate,” and is “firmly
anti-public school.”
