The results are in – more than 70 per cent rate Nottingham’s public transport system either 4 or 5 star

transport

A passenger survey has revealed that people rate the city’s public transport system highly – but would like to see more buses and trams.

Nottingham City Council asked the questions over July and August this year, based on a similar survey from 2019, to give the public an opportunity to explain what works well and what they feel could be better.

Nottingham residents tell us that they use the bus and trams because it’s easy, cheap, green and helps avoid traffic.

It’s also great news that satisfaction with real-time public transport information is up, demonstrating that our recent investment in this infrastructure is making a positive difference to the passengers.

Council secures additional £800,000 to support the city’s rough sleepers

rough sleeping

The Council has been successful in applying for an additional £800,000 grant to continue helping rough sleepers in Nottingham over the next two years.

It will help to fund our ongoing work with local partners including Framework, Nottingham Arimathea Trust, Bloom Social Housing and P3.

We had originally been awarded more than £6.5m last year from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) Rough Sleeping Initiative (RSI) to cover the period up to 2025, and have now secured another £811,238 from the fund.

This is the tenth largest grant in the country out of 245 awards and seventh highest outside London.

First tenants moving into new homes in Bestwood

beckhampton road

I’m delighted that this month we’ve seen the first tenants move into the new homes we’re building at Beckhampton Road in Bestwood.

These homes are energy efficient and low-cost to run, meaning they also contribute to our carbon-neutral ambitions, and are the latest to be built as part of Building A Better Nottingham, which has already seen almost 750 new council houses built.

Building warm, safe and energy-efficient new homes not only encourages investment and creates jobs, it also helps create thriving neighbourhoods for Nottingham families to enjoy.

The homes at Beckhampton include one, two and three-bed houses, flats and wheelchair-accessible bungalows, all of which are in high demand in the area.

A further 90 families will be moving into their new homes in Bestwood in time for Christmas, and I look forward to seeing them enjoy living in this vibrant community.
