We beat state Sen. Scott Wiener’s SB 50! New rumor: the legislature is SICK of Wiener's awful experiments. We hope so, because:
Wiener's close allies are trying to piece-meal SB 50 back into existence!
- AB 725 by Wicks wipes out single-family and duplex zoning. The Assembly already approved this utter mess. Many legislators were tricked into believing it would put new density in multi-family zoned areas. Wrong. AB 725 will upend single-family and duplex areas for dense luxury housing. The senate must stop this housing destruction bill.
- AB 1279 by Bloom creates a phony new land-use category - "High Resource Areas" - in which developers would have full power to overrun local plans and single-family areas to erect four-plexes. It produces NO affordable housing. Legislators must stop this housing destruction bill.
IN 2020, we must wake legislators to the fact that forcing upzoning on our 400-plus towns & cities is NOT a housing "production" plan.
