CLC Launches Campaign Legal Conversations with
Washington Post Live

On Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11 AM ET, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) will launch "Campaign Legal Conversations” – a  livestreaming events series that brings together experts, change-makers and authors to exchange ideas, foster mutual understanding and find common ground, with the goal of better understanding and strengthening our democracy ahead of the 2024 presidential election and beyond. 

Thursday's Washington Post Live kickoff event, “Democracy in America,” will bring together celebrated experts to delve into threats facing our democracy and efforts to strengthen democracy’s guardrails.

  • Trevor Potter, CLC President and Republican Former Chairman of the Federal Election Commission 

  • Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt, Harvard University political scientists and co-authors of New York Times bestseller “How Democracies Die” 

  • Carol Anderson, Professor of African American Studies at Emory University and Nicole Hemmer, Vanderbilt University historian

Campaign Legal Conversations Event
On Tuesday, October 3, at 1:00 PM ET, Campaign Legal Center will host a virtual event examining the differences that exist between ethics investigations and enforcement in the House and Senate, as well as discuss the ways in which an OCE for the Senate could be established and implemented. 
Moderated by Eric Kashdan, Senior Manager for Legislative Strategy at CLC, this discussion will feature Kedric Payne, Vice President, General Counsel, and Senior Director for Ethics and Danielle Caputo, Legal Counsel for Ethics. Joining us will also be former Reps. Mike Capuano, D-M.A., and Chris Shays, R-C.T.
