John,
It’s suicide prevention month. The young people in our Survivor Care have good days and bad days, as we all do. However, due to the complex trauma that they have experienced, including trafficking victimization and sextortion ([link removed]) , the bad days for many of our youth can be quite severe. Almost half (47%) of the youth referred to Love146’s US Survivor Care Program have a history of suicidal thoughts and 44% have engaged in self-harming behaviors such as cutting. Love146’s programs are built to reduce the risk of suicide by journeying with youth and offering them…
Relationships have a unique power to increase children’s resilience, recovery, and overall well-being. We provide a space where youth can heal from trauma – promising that no matter what, we will be there for them on this journey of recovery.
Many youth - even those who have thousands of social media “connections” — come to us reporting that they have no one they can turn to or trust. In our care, we help youth identify people in their life whom they can build those trusting connections with.
Many youth tell us they didn’t know hotlines were there to help. In various levels of our prevention and survivor care work, we ensure youth become familiar with resources in their community, as well as national hotlines. Here are a few relevant ones that could help youth you know:
* National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255 (1-800-273-TALK)
* Take it down: Remove sextortion content: [link removed] ([link removed])
* Human Trafficking Hotline: 888-373-7888
GIVE TO SUPPORT THIS VITAL WORK ([link removed])
This National Suicide Prevention Month, stand with Love146 in preventing youth suicide by sharing resources and supporting our work. Together, we can show up for these youth who have so much life and joy ahead of them.
With hope,

Founded in 2002, Love146 journeys alongside children impacted by trafficking today and prevents the trafficking of children tomorrow. We connect the dots to understand how vulnerability operates in the lives of children, and intervene both to care for survivors who have been harmed and ultimately to prevent harm from happening in the first place. Our work is achieved through the power of relationships and collaboration, listening to those with lived experience and diverse backgrounds, scaling proven practices, and challenging the systems that leave children vulnerable. Our prevention and survivor care work has impacted more than 70,000 young people. Our core commitment is to do what is best for children.
