Dear John, Last week was action-packed! Our Summer of Peace concluded on the International Day of Peace on Thursday where we celebrated achieving our goal of over 500 anti-war actions since July 4! Here is a brief overview of what we accomplished:
And so much more: and we aren’t stopping there. We are already mobilizing for October 3 and 4 where we will rally against war with Dr. Cornel West and walk the halls of Congress to deliver our petition demanding peace in Ukraine now! Sign our petition that we will bring to Capitol Hill! If you’ve already signed it, share it on Twitter by clicking here. The Summer of Peace came to a close on the International Day of Peace, and we were able to spend it together in NYC. In Cental Park, we created a human pink wave of peace singing and parading through the park. We ended at The People’s Forum with musicians from NYC and with our Summer of Peace Art on view. Young artists from around the country shared their work at our peace art gallery. The only prompt was “What does peace mean to you?” One artist, Tom White, reflected on his work and said, “In theory, peace is the simplest of concepts. Historically and presently it is the most difficult to grasp.” It is up to us to imagine and organize for the peaceful future young people want to see. At the march in NYC, we handed out thousands of stickers and flyers to spread our message of peace. Almost everyone we talked to already knew that war is the number one contributor to climate change– our organizing is working! We are happy to have you in the movement, and our work doesn’t stop here. We hope to see you in person or at the livestream on October 3 to rally for a more peaceful world. In Solidarity, Towards Peace, |
