John,
After nearly 146 days on strike, the Writers Guild of America has won a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers!
While the agreement language isn’t public yet, the WGA Negotiating Committee told their members:
“We can say, with great pride, that this deal is exceptional – with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of the membership.” — WGA Negotiating Committee
This is a huge victory months in the making, but the fight isn’t over yet — actors with SAG-AFTRA are still on strike, and until the AMPTP is willing to make a fair deal with them, many actors, writers, and crew members will continue to be out of work.
To help entertainment workers who are struggling during these strikes and to ensure that union actors have the leverage needed to win a fair contract of their own, can you help us support the Union Solidarity Fund today? Your contribution of any amount will show solidarity with workers across the country as their fights continue.

Now that a tentative agreement has been reached, here are the next steps to getting this contract ratified:
First, the WGA Negotiating Committee will decide whether to take the final language to the WGA West Board and WGA East Council for a vote.
Then, if those committees agree, the full contract will be released to the public, and the union’s 11,000 members will vote on whether or not to ratify the deal.
In the meantime, the WGA has suspended its own picketing, but in a show of worker solidarity they are encouraging members to join SAG-AFTRA’s picket lines as they continue to fight for their own deal.
Strikes aren’t easy for workers, who are risking their livelihoods, medical benefits, and so much more to take a stand against some of our nation’s wealthiest and most powerful corporations. But as powerful as these companies are, the fact of the matter is that when we stand together, we are even stronger.
The unions who have organized and gone on strike against massive studios and streamers, major automotive companies, Amazon, Starbucks, UPS, and so much more fight this fight for all of us, to build an economy and a country that work for the many, not the few.
As we celebrate the WGA’s victory, we maintain our solidarity with SAG-AFTRA, the United Auto Workers, and all other workers taking a stand in order to be treated fairly and compensated for the value that they provide.
To help support workers in the entertainment industry who have been out of work for months and help give other workers the leverage they need to keep up the fight, pitch in to help us support the Union Solidarity Fund today.
