Hi John,
Last week, our governor announced that he'll be calling a special legislative session on education starting in October. And he wasn't subtle about his intentions...
Mothers Against Greg Abbott has just a few more days to make our case to the Texas public that we need to protect Texas public education from Abbott's school voucher program.
John, before we ask for your $5 donation, here are 5 reasons why your support is so critical to defeating the governor's school voucher program:
- Most Texans don't want school vouchers. 76% of Texans are actively concerned that charter schools, like those set to benefit from Abbott's school voucher program, take money away from local public schools. [1]
- Texas state lawmakers who oppose Abbott's school voucher program hail from both sides of the aisle. Democrat, Republican, rural, urban — lawmakers from all over Texas recognize the harm Abbott's education plans will do to Texas families and are actively fighting to defend Texas public education.
- The Arizona Department of Education recently found that 3 out of every 4 children applying for their state's newly adopted voucher program were already enrolled in a privately funded school or homeschool program. School voucher programs most benefit students who are already enrolled in private school, and whose families already have access to and can afford private school, homeschooling, and other educational costs. [2]
- 82% of Texans say they know vouchers will increase their property taxes and take funds away from public school classrooms. [1]
- School vouchers raise the risk of harm to students, do little to expand opportunity, and cut funding to public schools. [3]
John, if you’re convinced that school vouchers are the wrong choice for Texas, chip in a $5 contribution to Mothers Against Greg Abbott now, ahead of the Texas Legislature's education special session.

We know our latest video ad and our postcard project are highly effective persuasion tools, and are helping us make the case that public schools are worth fighting for.
But with the education special session looming, every dollar counts and allows us to reach Texas voters (and their representatives) up and down the state.
That’s why I’m reaching out to supporters like you to see if you can pitch in before Saturday. You can donate using the donation buttons above or with this unique link:
