MAGAs want to shut our government down. Rep. Kevin Hern is at the center of it.
I'm running for Congress in Oklahoma's 1st District to stop Hern and his MAGA cohorts from furthering their MAGAnomics agenda where billionaires have a lower tax rate than teachers and wealth is taxed at a lower rate than work.
Hern's MAGAnomics has three steps:
1 - Underfund the government by giving tax cuts to big corporations and the wealthy.
2 - When this creates a deficit, pretend you're fiscally responsible. Go on Fox News and pose as a fiscal conservative.
3 - Shut down the government unless cuts are made to healthcare, education, and law enforcement.
In 2020, 55 of the largest corporations paid zero income tax. In 2022, Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act that set a minimum corporate tax rate of 15% and no new taxes on small businesses. Rep. Kevin Hern voted NO to the Act and continues to oppose it.
Now Hern is worried about the deficit enough to shut our government down. Hern never mentions how welfare for the wealthy is increasing the deficit. That's no wonder - Hern is the perfect example of welfare for the wealthy: Hern, a multi-millionaire, took over $1.2 million in Paycheck Protection Program tax dollars and never paid it back. It was unethical and it was wrong.
Our campaign strongly opposes Hern's hardcore MAGAnomics. That's why I support the Inflation Reduction Act that requires big corporations to pay their fair share of taxes. No schoolteacher or firefighter should be taxed at a higher rate than wealthy corporations. Big corporations have lawyers, accountants, and Hern to fight for their tax cuts. The people of Oklahoma will have me fighting for their financial interests. I'll keep our government working and not use government shutdowns to advance political agendas.
I'm running for Congress because I want America moving forward and to do that, we must rebuild our middle class. It begins with ensuring taxes are fair, prioritizing tax breaks for folks who really need them, and ending welfare for the wealthy. Together, we can stop one of America's top MAGA politicians, Kevin Hern, from using his Congressional seat for personal gain.
