The CBC is not just an organization; it’s a community of dedicated individuals who share a common goal: advocating for justice, equity, and opportunity for Black Americans and people of color.

I was immensely proud earlier this year to be a part of history as the Congressional Black Caucus swore in our largest caucus in history – where we welcomed 58 members of the caucus who together serve 18 million Black Americans.

And when the U.S Virgin islands struggled during the destruction of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the CBC was instrumental in pleading alongside me for increased recovery efforts.

That’s why, this year, I was incredibly honored to serve as the honorary co-chair of the CBC's 52nd Annual Legislative Conference. This conference was a space for us to come together and elevate the values of democracy, freedom, and culture that are so dear to us.
