Climate change affects us all but each community experiences its effects
in different ways. Our coasts face rising sea levels and intensifying
storms, while regions further inland are now, more than ever, reeling from
devastating droughts and wildfires. Yet, despite the unrelenting effects
of climate change around the country, some in Congress want to defund our
most powerful tool to fight it, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). We
cannot let this happen.

To safeguard this crucial funding, we're sharing firsthand accounts from
individuals directly impacted by the crisis. Take a moment to read 3

The Financial Strain

“Basically, climate change has cost me money and I cannot afford it.” A
homeowner in Blue Island, Illinois reports financial setbacks like higher
electric bills and property damage. With the rising cost of living,
preserving climate funding is essential to alleviate such burdens.

The Health Consequences

“I am 77 and have asthma. Going outside makes me nauseous or triggers an
asthma attack.” You've likely heard similar stories, like this one from
Plano, Texas, illustrating how pollution can disrupt daily life. Another
example comes from Lakewood, Colorado, "I’ve had to stay indoors on hot
and high-ozone days for the past several years. Climate change has left me
feeling isolated." It's imperative to sustain IRA programs that improve
community health.

The Call to Action

“Climate change has turned me into a climate activist,” says Dream.Org
scholarship recipient Kimi Wei. For many, the environmental devastation
has prompted environmental action. “It has caused my family to spend time
learning and teaching about these dangers to friends, community members,
and our political representatives.” Kimi used her stories to back climate
legislation last summer; your account could help protect the IRA now.
