On Monday, Governor Mike DeWine attended Ag is Everyone's Business event in Hillsboro with Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Dorothy Pelanda.? They discussed the H2Ohio water quality initiative, agriculture trade, and other key issues for the farming community.??
Also on?Monday,?Lt. Governor Jon Husted traveled to Dayton to announce the expansion of the BMV?s ?Get In Line, Online? system to the Miami Valley. Get In Line, Online allows BMV customers to check in from their computer or mobile device before arriving at the BMV.? They can then progress through the line without physically being there. The system was initially announced by Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted as a pilot project in June 2019.
On Tuesday,?Governor DeWine also signed House Bill 18.? The "Ohio Veterans Exemption Payment Act" offers a one-time, refundable tax credit to veterans who have paid state income tax on disability severance payments, and provides veterans a two-year period during which they claim the retroactive credit.?
Also on?Tuesday, Lt. Governor Husted spoke to business leaders across Ohio at the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Ohio Winter Conference. The Lt. Governor highlighted work the administration is doing through the Governor?s Office of Workforce Transformation in order to upskill more Ohioans and prepare the state?s workforce for in-demand jobs.
On Wednesday,?Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, and Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner announced the latest round of grants for the Regionally Aligned Priorities in Delivering Skills (RAPIDS) program.? This program helps universities, community colleges, and adult career centers purchase state-of-the-art equipment to ensure students have the most up-to-date training possible to meet regional workforce needs.
On Thursday,?Governor DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, M.D., M.P.H. joined MetroHealth President and CEO Akram Boutros, MD, and Cuyahoga County Health Commissioner Terry Allan to give an update on the state's preparedness and education efforts to limit the potential spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ohio.
On Friday, Governor DeWine gave remarks at the ribbon cutting and dedication of the new Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion at Nationwide Children's Hospital.?
Also on?Friday,?Governor DeWine was joined by Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Director Lori Criss,?Ohio Children?s Hospital Association President and CEO Nick?Lashutka, and Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation Executive Director Tony Coder in releasing the first-ever collaborative suicide prevention plan for Ohio.? This plan will direct the state's suicide prevention efforts for the next three years.?
