Dear All:
As the UN met in New York last week, President Biden and President Lula announced the groundbreaking U.S.-Brazil Partnership for Workers’ Rights while U.S. and Brazilian unions affirmed their commitment to work together to ensure the new initiative is adequately resourced and implemented with labor’s participation. With advocacy by U.S. and Brazilian unions, the bi-lateral partnership has the potential to put worker rights and decent jobs at the center of critical conversations and action around the transition to a clean energy economy, the role of emerging technologies, corporate accountability in supply chains, ending gender-based violence and harassment at work and other global priorities.

This important new labor initiative reflects the incredible work of labor leaders and workers in Brazil who for years have challenged anti-labor laws and fought to open civic participation. Solidarity Center looks forward to working alongside our partners to advance the U.S.-Brazil Partnership for Workers’ Rights and we send a special appreciation to members of the New York delegation: Unitary Workers’ Central (CUT), General Workers' Union (UGT), Union Force, Brazilian Unions' Central (CSB), Brazil Workers' Central (CTB) and the New Union Workers' Central (NCST).
