DataOhio Portal Receives National Recognition for Transparency, Access
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)?Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted, Director of InnovateOhio, today announced the state?s DataOhio Portal has been recognized by the Center for Digital Government with a 2023 Government Experience Project Award. Launched in 2020 by Lt. Governor Husted in partnership with the Ohio Department of Administrative Services? (DAS) InnovateOhio Platform, the portal significantly expands access to key State of Ohio data increasing transparency, empowering the public, and informing policy and state programming to better serve Ohio communities.
?The development of the portal was motivated by improving customer service for all Ohioans,? said Lt. Governor Husted. ?DataOhio makes information?available in an efficient and organized way so that it can be meaningful and usable and ultimately provides a greater value in advancing the public good. We appreciate the recognition of our work.?
With over 327 datasets from 18 state agencies, the portal allows the public, policymakers and communities to access information with ease, facilitating innovative solutions. A variety of data and visualizations are available, including?fish stocking records through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, a State Library of Ohio dashboard with an interactive map to search for local public libraries and their branches throughout Ohio, and much more.?
The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government. Ohio was recognized with the award during the center?s GovX Summit on September 19, an annual event that showcases and recognizes the latest trends, best practices, and ideas around the evolving experience of government.
