National Grid, National Fuel, Con Ed, CenHud... you show us a utility, we'll show you a lengthy, highly detailed docket of Public Service Commission proceedings in which we're fighting back against some kind of attempt to either raise our bills, keep poisoning us fossil fuels, or both.

But even among these, the rate hike by NYSEG & RG&E is particularly egregious. NYSEG is proposing a 62% rate hike for electric customers, and 18% for gas, while RG&E is proposing a still massive 37% rate hike for electric and 34% rate hike for gas.

These proposed rate hikes are unaffordable and outrageous under any circumstance, but all the more so because of the ongoing billing problems customers are experiencing.

And there are other problems too - among them, the proposal does not comply with key components of the State's Climate Law.
