Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council to discuss accelerating progress in salmon recovery and the draft 2025-2027 request for proposals for the Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration program

The Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council will meet online on Thursday, September 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Meeting highlights include:
* A?presentation and discussion about the addendum to the regional chapter of the Salmon Recovery Plan. This session will include a presentation about the addendum development, which includes strategies and actions to move salmon recovery forward, a monitoring and adaptive management framework, descriptions of key recovery partners and their roles as implementers, and funding strategies for implementing the addendum; Partnership staff will seek input from the Salmon Recovery Council on these topics. Presentation by Melissa Speeg, salmon recovery manager at the Puget Sound Partnership; Jenn Grimm, strategic funding manager at the Puget Sound Partnership; Ashley Bagley, salmon policy advisor at the Puget Sound Partnership; and Annelise Del Rio, salmon scientist at the Puget Sound Partnership
* A presentation for decision from the Legacy Projects Portfolio Committee.The committee is asking the Salmon Recovery Council to form a new committee focused on accelerating salmon recovery progress. The new committee would assess common challenges to salmon habitat projects, develop actionable recommendations for Salmon Recovery Council consideration, and advance solutions as directed by the council. Presentation by Melissa Speeg, salmon recovery manager at the Puget Sound Partnership; Chris Ellings, salmon recovery program manager with the Nisqually Indian Tribe; Alicia Olivas, salmon program implementation manager and Lead Entity coordinator at the Hood Canal Coordinating Council; and Kit Crump, floodplain services supervisor, Snohomish County Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.?
* A presentation?and discussion about the draft Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration (PSAR) program 2025-2027 request for proposals (RFP). This session will include discussion about the feedback received from the 45-day Tribal consultation and public comment period and options for criteria to include in the RFP. Presentation by Melissa Speeg, salmon recovery manager at the Puget Sound Partnership, and Marlies Wierenga, PSAR program manager at the Puget Sound Partnership
