Hi John.
I know many folks are continuing to grapple with higher costs on gas, groceries, and more.
I was raised by a single mom who’s now retired and lives on a fixed income. No one should have their budget squeezed even more. So today, I wanted to share a new update on how I’m continuing to push for concrete and bipartisan solutions to lower costs for Kansans >>
Lower Prescription Drug Costs
No one should have to pay more than three times what people in other countries pay for their medicines. Especially at a time when big drug companies are making record profits.
That’s why I was glad to vote for the new law that finally lets Medicare negotiate for lower prescription drug prices. The law is now being implemented – and we’re beginning to see the results.
Medicare recently announced the first ten prescription drugs for price negotiation. Click here to learn more about it.
The first ten prescription drugs selected for negotiation are among the highest total spending in the Medicare program.
This will make a big difference in the lives of so many. And it means saving seniors and taxpayers billions of dollars – so no one has to choose between paying for their rent or a lifesaving prescription.
This announcement builds on other key improvements – including capping the cost of insulin for seniors on Medicare at $35 a month.

Stronger U.S. Supply Chains
From higher prices to delays in necessary supplies, our local small businesses felt the effects of supply chain backlogs. I’m squarely focused on shoring up our supply chain and lowering costs for Kansas businesses and families.
That’s why I was glad to recently visit 1889 Pizza Napoletana to learn more about how past supply chain issues impacted their business.
As a member of the Small Business Committee, it’s important to me to stay connected with our local entrepreneurs. In my recent Sharice’s Shift, I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the challenges local eatery 1889 Pizza Napoletana faced.
Supply chain backlogs meant higher operating and ingredient costs for 1889 Pizza Napoletana and many other local restaurants. We have more work to do, but I’m gratified that many of our supply chains are clearing and that we’re making strong investments to boost American manufacturing.
That includes passing a major, bipartisan manufacturing law called the CHIPS and Science Act. I was honored to serve as a negotiator with Republicans and Democrats to pass this bill into law.
The new law includes incentives to make more advanced computer chips in the U.S., not China. Now we’re seeing the results with a factory construction boom across the United States.

Lower Utility Bills
I’m pleased to announce a new federal grant for Kansas that’ll help lower energy costs and local air pollution.
This grant is part of a new law that I voted for that’ll lower Kansans’ energy costs. The law is aimed at producing more affordable, domestically produced U.S. energy and clean energy.
Click here to learn more about the grant and how it will make a difference.
Last month I visited with FSC, Inc., an engineering firm in Overland Park, which took advantage of new clean energy tax credits to install new solar panels on their building. With the new law, local families could save an average of $500 per year on their energy bills. Many may also receive discounts to help upgrade to more efficient appliances and vehicles.
I’m focused on an all of the above approach to get gas prices down, lower utility bills, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
That’s why the new law lowers gas prices and utility bills by increasing American energy and clean energy production, including oil and gas leases as well as more wind and solar power. And it has new tax cuts to help families pay for more energy efficient appliances and vehicles.
Click here to learn more and see how you might benefit from the new savings.
I understand it’s tough for many families right now. We’re thankfully seeing some key progress we can keep building on, including record breaking job creation and the manufacturing boom. As I keep my focus on concrete and bipartisan solutions to lower costs, please know my team is here to help you however we can.
