Dear Friend, As you know, the pot industry, its lobbyists, and pro-weed lawmakers are willing to do anything to pass bills to further the addiction-for-profit model. Next week, the Senate Banking Committee will be voting to advance one of the industry's top priorities: the "SAFER" Banking Act. This bill sounds familiar, right? The "SAFER" Banking Act is the new name for the "SAFE" Banking Act, a bill to allow the pot industry access to the U.S. financial system and billions of dollars in institutional investment from the likes of Big Tobacco, Big Alcohol, and Big Pharma. SAFER Banking is almost exactly the same as SAFE Banking. Yet this new version is the product of months-long negotiations over a Republican sweetener in the bill that would have bolstered protections for the firearms industry. Tell Your Senators to Oppose SAFER Banking Today! Even though the Senate Banking Committee will almost surely advance SAFER Banking to the full Senate, there's good news: this bill is facing a number of political roadblocks that are decreasing SAFER Banking's prospects of passage by the day. The firearms industry protection portion, known as Section 10 of the bill, is a vitally important sweetener for Republicans. Key members of Congress that SAFER Banking proponents need on board are committing to opposing this new deal. Still, some of the most powerful Democrats and Republicans are working together to try and pass SAFER Banking. Never before has this bill passed a Senate committee. That is why it is vital you take action now to alert your Senators to this shady action by the pot lobby and urge them to oppose SAFER Banking. Tell Your Senators to Oppose SAFER Banking Today! The SAFER Banking Act would permit banks to be out of compliance with federal law, while opening the doors to Wall Street investment into the marijuana industry and put the pedal to the metal in the creation of the next Big Tobacco. All without any public health and safety guardrails. This is unacceptable. Please, take action now. Thank you for all that you do, Sincerely, Dr. Kevin Sabet President & CEO SAM Action SAM Action | 107 S.
