If Trump wanted to make our communities safer, he would demand Mitch McConnell bring the Senate back to vote on legislation supported by 97 percent of the American people.

The biggest roadblock right now to changing our gun laws is Mitch McConnell, and he has yet to commit to bringing back the Senate to vote on popular, common-sense gun legislation. So we need to keep up the pressure by threatening his Senate majority.

Will you split a $3 donation between Mark Kelly’s campaign and Senator Murphy’s work building our movement to change our gun laws? This is important.

Friends,

Yesterday, President Trump addressed the nation in response to the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton.

His response was inadequate and demonstrated a complete and total lack of interest in making our communities safer from gun violence.

America does not have a video game problem.

America has a gun problem.

If Donald Trump wanted meaningful action on guns – and he does not – he would not be suggesting we tie guns safety legislation to immigration reform. He would not be blaming the internet and video games.

If Trump wanted to make our communities safer, he would demand Mitch McConnell bring the Senate back to vote on legislation supported by 97 percent of the American people.

And if he did that, it would pass… immediately.

But we knew we wouldn’t be able to count on Trump, so we must focus our efforts on Mitch McConnell, who has yet to sound off on whether or not he’ll bring us back to consider this issue.

So we need to keep the pressure on, and there’s no better way to do that than by threatening his Senate majority.

So that’s what we’re going to do.

Every day this week, we’re going to raise money for the Democratic Senate candidates who can help us take back the majority. We’ll stop the moment he calls us back to vote.

First up, my friend Mark Kelly. Mark has been a leading voice in the fight to end gun violence. Now he’s running to flip Arizona’s Senate seat.

Split a $3 donation between Mark Kelly’s campaign and my work building our movement to change our gun laws. No one has done more for the anti-gun violence cause than Mark Kelly and his wife Gabby Giffords.

There’s no path to the Senate majority without flipping this seat, and our movement to make our communities safer from gun violence would benefit immeasurably if Mark joined me in the Senate. Thank you in advance for chipping in.

Every best wish,

Chris Murphy
